Shepherd Ministry

What Is Our Purpose?

To minister God’s love and care to all the members and friends of our congregation, fulfilling the Lord’s command to:

“Love each other as I have loved you.”   John 15:12

“Feed my sheep.”   John 21:15-17

Who Needs Care?

We all do at times.

“Comfort my people.”   Isaiah 40:1

  1. Some become ill or hospitalized and need care

  2. Some stop coming to worship and need to be visited

  3. Some face critical decisions and need our prayers.

  4. Some are lonely and need Telephone calls, Letters and Cards.

  5. Some are celebrating and need us to recognize it.

  6. Some are strangers in our midst and need friends.

What Is Our Strategy?

  1. 1.To call forth Shepherds to care for specific members of their folds in good times as well as in times of need through Shepherding

  2. 2.To recognize milestones and special events in the lives of members and friends of the congregation through our TLC Ministry

  3. 3.To connect by telephone with all of our people through our Telecare Ministry

  4. 4.To make training available as needed

  5. 5.To Create a Culture of Care. That is: Encourage every person to come to know and believe that we are all ministers of God’s grace

  6. 6.To submit a monthly Keeping PACE article to the Church’s newsletter

Shepherding

A Shepherd is called and selected to care for a Fold of 5-7 families. Their commitment to the ministry is best described by the acronym PACE.

P     -    Pray for your people daily

A    -    Be Available in times of need

    C    -    Make regular Contacts

E    -    Set an Example in your commitment to Jesus Christ and  His Church

TLC Ministry

The TLC Shepherds send cards to the congregation.  These include Birthdays, Anniversaries, Thinking of You, Get Well, Graduation, Welcome to our Church Family etc.

Telecare Ministry

The Telecare Shepherds call all members in the 080 zip code area on a regular basis. The purpose is to say “Hello”, let them know we care, and ask how we can pray for them.

Hospital Visitation Ministry

The Hospital Visitation Ministry has a team of visitors who serve two area hospitals daily or as needed. We also visit hospitals in the outlying areas such as Camden, Marlton, Voorhees, etc.·

The Shepherd Ministry will work to motivate, encourage and inspire all our members and friends to be “Jesus with skin on it” in and out of the church. Then we should be able to reach out with God’s love way beyond the walls of this Church.
